Staring down the mountain while your already strapped in. Wind whipping in your face and the only thing to do next is to make a move. You whisk down the mountain by a shift of your weight. Lean forward, lean backward, curve inside, curve outside, heel, toe, and by the time u get to the bottom your face is completely frozen! It hurts to touch it, but the rush you got in the minute and a half is begging you to go up the mountain again.
That’s exactly why you should invest in a balaclava or a ski mask. They protect your face and ur head from the cold wind and the snow you experience while riding down the mountain. Sign of the skier on yonge street had a wide range of selection of balaclava’s and ski masks. So if your looking to protect your face from harsh winds I would make their your first stop.

Give me a Lift

As snowboarders from the GTA we are always looking for the best deal around for lift tickets. The city of Toronto has two places to snowboard; Earls Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre which is located at Bathurst and Sheppard and Centennial Park which is located in Etobicoke. Each place has about two slopes. With only two slopes to offer of course these two areas are the cheapest. Both places are offering the same prices which range from 11 dollars for one hour to 25 dollars for all day. Just outside of Toronto is Mount Chinguacousy which only features a wonder carpet to get to the top of the hill. These hills are only for beginner’s, and they only give you a taste of what snowboarding is all about. If you want to really experience snowboarding then you are going to have to go to a resort. All the resorts are outside of the city. In the east there is Brimacombe (Oshawa), Sky Loft, Lakeridge, and Dagmar(Ajax) and in the west we have Glen Eden (Milton). Out of the 5 ski resorts we found that Glen Eden had the best deal for lift tickets. A full days lift ticket was only 35 dollars and a full day means from 8:30am – 9:30 pm. It is by far the best bang for your buck in the GTA. If you still want cheaper then i suggest going to Glen Eden from monday to thursday during the evenings. Night ski at this time is only 20 dollars. for more information click here to be directed to their website.

What you missed!

Its that time of year again, the time where every snowboarder and snowboarder to be waits for; The international Ski, Snowboard, and travel show. Not only will you get a good deal on snowboard gear, but you can also find amazing prices for ski resorts. If you are a snowboarder or a potential snowboarder that is where you needed to be this past weekend. So if any of you guys missed it please make sure to visit next year because i will be telling you exactly what you missed.

All the necessities  were on display and most importantly, on sale. One should be careful when going to the show because as this blogger noticed; not all the exhibits were having a sale on their products. Snowboard prices ranged from as low as $50 to as high as $700. You had to keep a keen eye out for good deals like board and binding combos or board, binding and boots combos if you wanted the whole package. The ski and snowboard swap had the best prices on boards and boasted an array of amazing stuff. The ski and snowboard swap had a mixture of used and new products but it was mostly an array of brand new/old stuff from last year.

In The Ontario section of the travel area of the exhibition. All the resorts and small slopes in southwestern ontario were there to catch your eye. They were handing out coupons, brochures, and even candy. The best give away was from the glen eden resort in miltion. They were giving away 10 dollar lift passes. Now that is hard to beat. Within toronto their are only two places you can go for snowboarding, but if you expand your horizons you will see that there are many other places to board just outside of toronto. We will cover that in later posts.

Stand out products:

Ride contraband bindings
contraband

contraband

At first sight these bindings look a little weak, to say  the least, but as we asked around we found out that looks can very well be deceiving. Released 3 years ago these bindings have mixture of ease and control ability which is  the perfect balance to bindings that every boarder wants. Apparently, the bindings worked so well that they even assisted in adjusting you posture when riding. Therefore focusing your energy where you really need it, controlling your board. All of this lead to the design being patented.  If you are looking to buy new bindings or are looking for a better ride, try these Ride Contraband bindings. I know they are definitely on my wish list.

Fast strap

So we have all experienced this trouble when we are transporting our board to the hill. Holding it over your shoulder or behind your back becomes tiring. Fast strap has an answer for you. This device straps around your board making it really easy to carry to the slopes. While your on the slopes , you need not worry you can Velcro the strap around your waist so you don’t lose it. At $15 each it is a small investment that makes a big difference.

Getting Ready in the Fall

As the fall season gets nippier its best to think of these times as the pre boarding season. This is exactly when you want to look for deals on last years products. Ski and snowboarding shops usually have their last year models out for cheap. For example at sanction they had snowboard jackets for 99.99 . I mean sure they are least years jacket , but is it really going to matter when your on the slope. Saving a few bucks on a jacket could benefit you when you have to buy the more expensive stuff such as hardware.

International Ski and Snowboard Show

Get boards, bindings, boots, jackets and all your boarding needs for cheap! Look out for limited deals and packages to ski/snowboard resorts near and far. Never changing my side but always keeping it goofy.
